QUARANTINE, 2020

Acrylic & Eggyolk on various materials

This series of artworks explores and draws inspiration from the daily experiences of myself and the broader population during the Covid-19 quarantine. Many, including myself, have become accustomed to the monotonous routine of staying at home. Life seems to have fallen into a repetitive cycle, devoid of its usual joys and filled instead with feelings of despair, sentimentality, and a sense of losing control. It's a struggle to conjure up moments of happiness out of thin air.

Questions arise: Are we truly living? What sets us apart from animals like cats or inanimate objects like furniture? Slowly, we blend into the background of daily existence, becoming almost invisible, yet our insignificance often goes unnoticed. Through this art, the artist encourages viewers to immerse themselves in each painting, to see themselves reflected in the characters portrayed, and to connect their quarantine experiences with the depicted scenarios.

Despite the seemingly endless cycle of hopelessness, there remains a spark of resilience within us. We cling to hope, burying it in the soil of despair only to watch it sprout anew, breaking the cycle. It's a mundane yet profoundly inspiring journey.
